Summer foods for your dogs

Summer foods for your dogs

Summer arrives with simple joys (think delicious mangoes, long days, lemonades, and pool parties) but it also delivers days that are oh-so-hot and borderline unbearable. Even though it’s a wonderful time to enjoy seasonal fruits, it comes with fluctuating diets and varying hunger pangs. And this might come as news but your dog feels the same way.

Summers can be tough on our little fur babies, but the good news is that there are several things you can do to make it easier for them. To begin with, help them beat the heat with lots of water and keep them indoors while the sun is at its brightest.

Coming to food, there are many ingredients which are naturally cooling in nature – you can add these to your pup’s meal to keep them as cool as a cucumber 😉

Read on to know which summer foods are most beneficial and ideal to consume for your fur baby!

Watermelons

Watermelons are 90% water, making them an excellent summer meal for all dogs. They’re hydrating, high in potassium, as well as vitamins B6, A, and C. Before feeding, just remember to remove all of the seeds from the watermelon. Watermelon seeds, like any other seeds in fruits, can induce intestinal obstruction, making them dangerous to dogs.

YUM! THANKS HOOMAN!

Cucumbers

Cucumbers are high in copper, magnesium, potassium, as well as vitamins B1, B7, C, and K. This is the ideal summer snack for your pet, especially if they need to shed a few pounds. Cucumbers have a relatively low carbohydrate and sugar content, making them a guilt-free and healthful snack!

SO COOL AND HEALTHY!!

Coconut Water

Coconut water is a well-known summertime beverage, but did you know that your pet may drink it as well? Coconut water is perfectly safe for your dogs; it is high in electrolytes, calcium, potassium, and Vitamin C. It helps cool down your pet while providing intense hydration. If your pet isn’t feeling well, dilute the coconut water with 25% water to make it easier for them to consume.

QUENCH YOUR THIRST HOOMAN!

Buttermilk and Yogurt

Summertime necessitates buttermilk and yogurt. Cool microorganisms (both symbolically and physically) tackle a variety of heat-related issues. Yogurt and buttermilk include lactic acid bacteria that are good for your pet’s digestive tract. It’s also a natural probiotic, which maintains the intestines in good shape.

I’M LOVING IT HOOMAN!!

Mangoes

Despite the fact that it may be difficult to share your favourite mangoes, do give your pet a taste of this delicious seasonal fruit! Ripened mangoes without the seed or outer peel are perfectly safe for your pets. Vitamins A, B6, C, E, antioxidants, flavonoids, and fibre abound in mangoes. Mangoes are a wonderful and healthful treat for your pet because of all of this deliciousness.

NUM NUM MANGOES 🙂

Blueberries

Blueberries are abundant in fibre and vitamin C, and they’re low in fat. They also help the body produce more antioxidants. They’re a great feel-good treat for the summer because they’re minimal in calories and sugar.

Ginger

It contains anti-inflammatory effects and is very relaxing for your pet’s tummy. You may include ginger in the frozen sweets you create for them or in the coconut water you provide them. Ginger can help keep your pet’s stomach cool by being added to their food.

Homemade Ice Cream

The rare scoop of vanilla ice cream or mango slush can be given to dogs, but not on a regular basis, as most pets cannot tolerate lactose. Look for pet-friendly ice cream, or create your own.

Refrigerate for a day after blending a ripe banana with frozen yogurt. You may even add a little cinnamon powder to the puree if your dog suffers from arthritis. This is a pet-friendly product. A handmade ice cream treat every now and again might help them relax.

Try these out and let us know which recipe turns out to be your dog’s fav. Woof!
